I am sure you will benefit… What do you intend to achieve… Studying SQL alone is not sufficient… SQL is back-end and therefore you will require more skills to make use this knowledge, for example Java/ Python/ HTML/ JavaScript, CSS, etc which will work on the front-end and UX and also on the back-end to retrieve, manipulate and store data in the SQL database… So, you need to make a determination on what your end result of your training will be… Do you want to b a Web Developer? If so, then HTML/ CSS should be your starting point but if you have this skill, then you need to have JavAscript/ PHP before making use of SQL… But it does not mean that such knowledge of SQL is useless, only that it is more useful in the next levels of development…

Data analytics is the goal. I am less than 5 years into my professional career,and being in management,I feel the need to gain an interesting and useful skill.

I think you need to study R, then SQL and NoSQL…

Why R? I have been researching,and enquiring like I am now,and most times recommendations are to start with SQL.

R is on the front-end, SQL in the back end… you can start by either… But R is the most critical thing for you as an analyst, but you must always know that that data is stored in an SQL or NoSQL database behind the scenes…

Yes. But python is not for a beginner especially a non developer… His focus is data and programmers will do the python work… It is great but not critical… R and databases are good for a data analyst
