Marende was the best speaker in Kenya’s history. He toned down a heated parliament at a time when this country was about to go to the dogs. Then there was a time he disciplined Kimunya for disrespecting the house.

Ole Kaparo remains the most impartial Speaker Kenya has ever had. Marende was good, but at some point he became ODM/Raila gatekeeper just like Muturi is doing for Jubilee/Uhuru.

Kaparo wasn’t impartial. If you follow the debates in Parliament in the early 90’s towards the end of the Nyayo error, Kaparo used to make rulings that favored Kanu. Lakini Kaparo during the early years of Narc became more tolerant and just in his rulings.
