[SIZE=5]THE PRESIDENT TO ADDRESS A JOINT SITTING OF PARLIAMENT[/SIZE]
H.E. the President, Uhuru Kenyatta, CGH and Commander-in-Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces is scheduled to make his annual State of the Nation address to a joint special sitting of the Houses of Parliament this week.
The sitting has been scheduled for Wednesday, 15 March 2017 at 2.30pm, and will be held in the National Assembly Chamber. In accordance with Article 107 (2) of the Constitution, the Speaker of the National Assembly shall preside, assisted by the Speaker of the Senate.
Members of the Cabinet, the Judiciary, Principal Secretaries, Ambassadors and High Commissioners, among other senior government officials, have also been invited to attend.
The President will also be expected to provide reports to Parliament, as required by Articles 132 (1) and 240 (7) of the Constitution, on the measures taken and progress achieved in the realization of national values, on progress made in fulfilling the international obligations of the Republic, and on the state of national security.
