JSS is not new. Before and a few years past independence we had the Intermediate School which stood between primary and secondary. You had to pass and exam to proceed from that. I experienced that. They simply rogotad and dusted a relic of colonial education and made it look like a shiny bright idea. Problem is the way it is crammed full of content, most of which is a carry over from lower grades.
