Some Explanation Please

Talkers, and the doctors in the house. Scumbag here needs to get somethings into perspective. With your help, knowledge and input.
Can someone explain how a fourty something woman who has never done all the “bad” things that people do - the alcohol, the fast life and the like (things that would lay ground so speaking) suddenly suffer from a stroke out of the blues? And have her whole right side die as it maybe?
How can that happen?

Been trying to wrap my mind around it and its messing me up… There is daily therapy and medication and the accompanying stress both mental and financial.

Any ideas out there?

Sorry bro . that’s not a situation i would wish anyone to find their loved ones in.

Poleni…

Pole man. Was it a hemorrhagic or ischemic stroke?

Most likely, due to her age and lack of risk factors, it was the former. Hemorrhagic strokes in young women are usually caused by something called an AVM (arteriovenous malformation), which is an abnormal network of veins and arteries in the brain. Under hypertensive conditions, these blood vessels could rupture causing a stroke.

It could also have been a congenital brain aneurysm which subsequently ruptured.

Thanks @Purple amma go start researching on ya info. Didn’t know where to start. @Luther12 colleagues are stingy with info…but therapy seems to be helping

You’re welcome. Stroke care is very tough on caregivers but she’s still young so chances are in her favor.

It’s long term care so you will need to pace yourself until she makes recovery.

Just take each day at a time.

Please continue your initiatives to prevent blood clots, bed sores and muscle contractions, falls, ensure adequate nutrition, physical/occupational and speech therapy.

My bro was once attacked akiwa ulevini. He was hit in the head which ended up making experience stroke of the left side of the face. He was given some medication za anticlogging, some antibiotics and some other medicines, and three months later, he was doing well.

Oh,she is not bedridden. We were lucky that intervention was fast…she regained her mobility as soon as she saw a doc. She completely mobile…what’s remaining is work on her facial cordination

Are you in the medical field? I find you quite intelligent and down-to-earth which is a real turn on.

Thats some very positive news but be proactive to put chances of recurrence at bay.

Mishale…

Oooohhh…even the saddest news got a silver lining…

Pole bro…she’ll be okay usijali and forgive my ufisi ways.

There is nothing to forgive bro… A fisi will never hide its limp sir.

Pole Bro. I pray for you all. Everything shall be okey.

In our setting, most strokes in ‘young’ people are because of uncontrolled BP. Basically a stroke is when a blood vessel IN THE HEAD bursts (haemorrhagic) or gets blocked by a drifting clot (eschaemic) (when the same occurs in the heart, its called heart attack).

Pole but just know alcohol does not cause stroke. Ongea na daktari uelimishwe nini huleta stroke. It could also be a pulomonary emoblism juu ya kukuaa chini sana. Most doctors in Kenya do not have the equipment so they just say it is a stroke

Many things can cause stroke.
Just because someone has no obvious risk factors does not mean they are non existent.
They could simply be asymptomatic.
One called antiphospholipid antibody syndrome associated with clot formation and recurrent pregnancy losses.
Remember most stroke are ischemic mostly due to clot.
Can also be from embolism( dislodged clot) from heart valve vegetation/ growth.
Basically differential Ni mingi so best is systemic review to find possible cause

Thanks every one…did not know that there are so many knowledgeable people around here

The knowledge here is deep…I’ve also learnt alot…
