Somalia “regrets” decision by Kenya to reimpose Wajir stopover for all flights from Mogadishu, says move is intended to restrict movement of Somali citizens. Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation says decision is “politicised” and not good for neighbourly relations.

If Somali can’t secure its capital city or its airport security then they can’t cry to anyone. Mogadishu has had 62 terrorist attacks this 5 months of the year alone. You wonder why they boast they have an army and special forces. Any country would do what us and Ethiopia did. You can’t have their airlines flying more people into your airport than the numbers registered at the passenger manifest. Where did the extra passenger board from? Is there a stage in the sky? You can’t deliver more goods than they are in the manifest as well. What are the extra unregistered cargo carrying. If the security protocols at Mogadishu airport are compromised then that’s a dangerous risk. That means anyone can get inboard with weapons, hijack it and turn the plane to a flying bomb. That’s why inspection has been reintroduced at Wajir. All passengers and cargo will be screened. Other countries would simply have banned the airlines.

Nobody gives a flying fuck about Ethiopia. I don’t think Somali does anyway. Their elite have invested heavily in Kenya - not Ethiopia. In fact, most live in Kenya. That’s why they care if Kenya does it and don’t when Ethiopia does it. Kenya is the big dog in the yard and they know it. They have more to lose.
As long as thieves, politicians, warlords and pirates from Somalia and South Sudan continue finding a safe haven for themselves and their families in Kenya (mostly Nairobi), GoK will always have those two by their nuts. That stop does not target Somali peasants, it targets the elite who use those planes.
