Solar Roof: The Next Big Thing

By 2025 Entire Solar roof will be the in thing as more and more people leave the grid and battery costs per wattage come down.

Solar technology has come a long way. Back in the early 1990s panels were heavy and had poor efficiencies, so were the batteries. Fast foward to today and you can get an entire system that can power EVERYTHING in your house for less than Ksh 300,000.

300K might seem a lot but in 3 years the system will have paid for itself. ROI is quite high.

SOLAR IS THE WAY TO GO. DITCH CORRUPT KPLC AND REGAIN YOUR FREEDOM

Its already done,Tesla has installed more than 3.6 GW of clean solar energy across 400,000 roofs and counting—the equivalent of 10 million traditional solar panels

KPLC tokens don’t bother me at all

Nice!

But you need a few lesson za Cable management

Nimetoka bali

The already trobled kplc is discouranging solar in kenya. They want high taxation for solar equipments but i would totally recommend anyone to go solar, especially vile wet season zimekua ndogo apa kenya

I also saw a story on new transparent Glass Solar panels being developed in South Korea.
If they work ,Sky Scrappers and glass buildings will also double as Giant Solar panels that could power cities.
Interesting stuff.

Nice set up! How many kilowatts does it give you and which company helped you set it up? I’m looking to install mine too next year and my average consumption is 120 kilowatts per month.

Wakati wa mvua ukitaka kuchota maji kama uko na tank, utachota hiyo inapitia kwa solar?

Good job. This is a great achievement

What kind of loads were you powering with this setup?

Home theatre and smart TV, 11 led lights and charging phones and laptop

And the new setup loads?

I bought the gadgets as i upgraded and engaged a local electrician who I directed how to interconnect everything from the panels to the batteries. The manuals for the gadgets are straight forward.

Home theatre, TV, fridge, blender, sandwich maker iron box and even microwave. Microwave is only for a few minutes cause it tends to slightly overload the inverter. The solar system is controlled using my smartphone through an app

I want a similar setup for use with a water pump any leads.currently running a diesel pump but I want zero running cost

Watu wa Solar ni wengi from the very cheap (and possibly fake) to premium brands which are highly upgradable with company Internet user support forums.

Izi idea zinakuwa pushed kwenu na parasitic owners of capital,

you have to start at your pump power rating, then how many hrs it runs? in short step one is determining demand

You need to know the total power you can consume at a go i.e when all the electronics are on. Then the power consumption of devices that are always on so that you can estimate the required size of solar panels, charge controller, batteries and inverters.
