why did you go for Mac rather than a windows machine

Main reason is I develop software for all platforms (Windows, Linux, OSX, iOS and Android - and Blackberry but who cares). Macs are the only place I can do that on one box. The above screenshots don’t have much, but I usually have Parallels running with a windows box and a linux box. Before I had to have a laptop with both windows and Linux, and also an iMac at home but that limited me when travelling.
Light weight computer + awesome battery life is also a major factor. My MacBook can give me more than 8 hours of battery life. The only other laptop that is both not heavy is the Lenovo T450s. I used to have it, and with 2 batteries it would give me more than 10 hours. But it meant having to give up point no. 1 above.
Retina display. The only other laptop with a display as good as the MacBook’s retina is the Dell XPS 13, whose downside is that its battery life sucks.
Macs are aesthetically way above all other boxes. The only downside is that you are limited to what you get when ordering the computer.
