My mum left her teaching job in the eighties to get married. It did not end well once she hit 50 and the mzee learned @cortedivoire’s ways. She passed away very young at 53. Other factors were at play but the main thing was total dependence.
There’s peace of mind in having your own stuff and not having to depend on anyone.

Women are brainwashed to believe that they are nothing without a man. I saw a principal who left her job after her husband threatened to leave her if she didn’t. After awhile he still left her - with nothing.
@TrumanCapote women stay because they feel they have already wasted half their lives with the man. And that’s how the other half is wasted as well.
If you’re angry your husband has wasted 15 years of your life, and you refuse to forgive and move on, that’s how he’ll waste 15 more.
It’s called the previous investment or sunk cost trap

My 2 cents …
As far as relationships are concerned, both agendas need an urgent reset …
But that can only happen when we’re reexamine and reevaluate our morals and values afresh …
I have the living examples of both my grand parents and parents who lived whole productive lives committed to supporting each other …
Domestic Unions are a choice…
But they come with conditions and responsibilities… ![]()
