Social Distancing

Kenyans, Kenyans, KENYANSSSS… how many times have I called you?

Somebody help me understand WHAT IS WRONG WITH KENYANS. Yaani just following a very simple instruction meant to save your life and protect you and your loved ones you can’t follow. You know I’ve been blaming government all through for all manner of laxity and negligence but now is when I’ve realized Kenyans are their own worst enemies.

Awhile back I went to the supermarket, just during this Corona manenos. I was not wearing a mask but I went off peak hours. And sure enough people were few but to my utter shock and disbelief, a mzungu leaned in near me to pick some groceries. I was like Jesus…MZUNGU the real carriers with Chinese ananikaribia? Thankfully I had prayed before I left the house .I hurriedly jumped AWAY. As I would if the man was a human tarantula. I was about to call the police hotline for Corona but I forgot the number in my shock. In my mind the convo would go like this, hallo police? Kuna mzungu ako hapa kwa hii supermarket ABCD anakaribia watu sana Sijui ako na Nia gani. Can you please come pick him aende quarantine? Hatuna pesa ya kushinda quarantine or is it isolation ward na bado deni ya China hata hatuja gusa.

Now today I went with a mask coz after that mzungu incident I had been traumatised. I was not taking any chances. Heh! Kufikiwa kwa counter a certain lady came right next to me and started pushing the trolley away. I was like, LADY, what is the problem? You are supposed to keep distance. She avoided eye contact and had that look frustrated married women have like wanashikilia mshuto. Yaani supermarket is announcing keep your distance, keep your distance, and they have even gone to the extent of drawing circles o. their floor to show you where you should stand. Wewe you can’t even wait mtu amaliziwe you are breathing down somebody’s neck? Surely, even if I was wearing a mask that’s now not the excuse to move from your circle and start pushing my trolley. You may contaminate my clothes by brushing up against me. Anyway, I was magnanimous enough to offer her my points since I don’t take those loyalty cards supermarkets offer. She sheepishly said thank you. I just felt sorry for her, bcz I could see something was disturbing her, that’s how to deal with some of these people who have no courtesy. Unawapea bonga points wanunue tequila.

I was like enyewe if this is how people are behaving, Yaani guys, the supermarket wasn’t even packed. Sijui haraka ilikua ni ya nini? Ya kuenda kupika Mzee kaimati ama nini? I know women are harassed especially with kids at home but contravening social distancing rules is endangering your own life and your kids lives also.

Please Kenyans observe social distancing coz this is becoming too much. Even the number of people with masks ni wachache. And some are pretty elderly. It’s like Kenyans, the devil may care but not them. Even on telly all I see is back to back queuing. It’s like if you leave even a kasmall space kwa line utakufa. By the way I understand the exasperation of this government with citizens. Kabisa. I understand. You tell Kenyans go right, they go left. And it’s not for your entertainment ni maisha yao unajaribu kuokoa.

All I can say is that if we see the end of this thing. Ni Mungu tuu na Mungu kabisa coz Kenyans the only credit they can take is for defying orders. Nothing else.Even a very simple instruction umechorewa circle like a kindagarten kid on the floor, you can’t stand there, unaona your time is being wasted wacha ukaribie the person in front hadi umsukumie trolley. Alafu ukipata na ugonjwa mbio za supermarket huishia Mbagathi Isolation ward for a whole month kama hautaenda kwa Baba. Me mambo ya Wakenya imenishinda. I wish Unye and his team in MOH all the best. It’s very difficult dealing with Kenyans. Fuata sheria people. Fuata laid down procedures. It’s for your own good.

Didn’t read lol

ati?

Hatusomi. Literacy sio ya hii

Its called the constipated look kwa kiingereza. Looking hassled, rushed and stressed like something inside you is about to explode. In the age of Corona it’s advisable to keep stress levels low. Stress is terrible for your immunity.
