Sober Confession - Why I Stopped Drinking and Partying

Alcohol is by far the hardest and most toxic drug to quit. It does not help that society really glamorizes it and it’s readily available 24/7 almost anywhere on the planet. Being able to go for months sober after you have been a regular drinker is nothing short of an achievement and a challenge that everyone who has ever sipped a drink ought to take up. You see, the thing about alcohol is that it creeps up on you; drop by drop, trickle by trickle, shot by shot, one glass at a go. Eventually (while you are too busy getting hammered to notice), it fucks up your destiny and changes the entire trajectory of your life, and trust me, not for the better.
Personally, I wish I had never started drinking in the first place. The amount of cash, time, and resources that I have burned through alcohol is downright humungous. I would have made enormous strides in my personal and professional life if I didn’t drink as much as I did in my 20s. BTW, only 1% of people who partake in alcohol on a regular basis are capable of controlling their consumption. Most walevis are simply binge drinkers who occasionally (if not always) wake up with a ton of regrets the next morning after going on a bender.
On this Sunday morning, I am proudly 90 days alcohol-free, and I can say I quit after I found out the following about drinking;
[ol]
[li]You will NEVER make any genuine friends/colleagues through alcohol[/li][li]Alcohol promises so many things but the only thing you are guaranteed is a hefty bill, serious bouts of anxiety, and a massive hangover after a night of binge drinking.[/li][li]There’s no situation on this planet that alcohol cannot make worse, drinking will not and NEVER solve your problems[/li][li]The cumulative amount of money and time spent on alcohol (over say a decade or so) is staggering and can be life-changing if invested prudently. I’m not even factoring in alcohol-related losses such as unnecessary/avoidable MV accidents and DUI fines.[/li][li]The society/government employs alcohol (an escapist drug that is quite readily available) to keep a clutch on its subjects i.e. taxpayers. Alcohol reduces you to just another mindless consumption-fixated zombie who spends their income just as fast (if not faster) as they earn it.[/li][li]What starts as a once-a-month indulgence quickly morphs into a weekly and finally a daily fix. And I can guarantee that you will NEVER have nice things in your life once you start taking alcohol regularly. You will lose GENUINE friends, get into unnecessary fights, pile up debt, rack up useless drinking buddies, load up freeloading pokostes, and continuously find yourself in situations that you’d rather not be in. The more you abuse alcohol, the worse and more frequent these situations will get. Eventually, alcohol will hold back your progress in life so much that you will be almost unrecognizable after a decade or so of regular drinking.[/li][li]You are not in any way special or exempted from the consequences and ultimate eventuality of regular drinking i.e. addiction. It’s just a matter of time before you find yourself disposing of your most prized possessions just to afford a drink. It’s just a matter of time before you kill yourself or an innocent party while driving under the influence. It becomes a question of WHEN you will lose your job after showing up dead drunk at work. It has happened to many before you and it WILL ALSO HAPPEN to you if you keep it up long enough.[/li][/ol]

Alcohol adds nothing to your life. Ukishajua and accept that the rest is very easy i.e abstaining and regulating your drinking habits

  1. The health risks associated with alcohol. Many of the drinks available on the shelves of bars, clubs, and wines and spirits outlets are not safe for long term consumption. Our forefathers drunk natural alcohol brewed with natural ingredients. Today, so many chemicals used in alcohol production and in some cases the product is fake, kariobangi stuff. Within a few years of regular drinking, you start developing health complications.

I personally believe that alcohol is a good recreational drug. However, most people should avoid it because they can’t drink in moderation.

You have to be wealthy for drinking not to affect your finances. Mtu kama Murathe after kuiba a few billions hata akikunywa 100k weekly its nothing.

So, for most of us without that kind of money, drinking is detrimental to our finances.
