So some time ago I was conned $108 in a very dumb manner. So I had an issue with skrill and sent them an email.they couldn’t reply asap to I notified them via a public social media platform to check my account.Problem is I posted my email on public view and just before they could reply to it,a scammer replied to that very same email misrepresenting his profie as skrill and tricked me into sending them the amount stated above to facilitate the transaction. In summary,i sent the money and that was the end of our exchange.I was conned by the guy and it really him me hard cuz that guy was not the average “nitumie kwa hii,ile ingine imezimika”.
Just so you know, online fraud is real af.You only realize it when your funds are gone. What I learnt can be summarized below
-Never engage official organizations through social media unless there are genuine reasons to do so.There are many fake accounts out there and you may not know if the man behind the bogus account is @snapdragon.Communication through email is much more secure.
-Never display any of your information in public view especially in social media—this extends to your phone number or id no etc.You never know who is using your id no in kamiti to register simcards.Mind you, during electin period your id number was sufficient enough to pull your details from iebc including yur three names, county location, date of birth etc.
-Lastly,never share your log ons with anyone including safaricom, kra agents etc.it may look naïve to fall for this but trust me you only realize when its too late.
Hope this helps someone na mtu asiniambie osungu chieth.
These scammers can create an email using the domain of the company you work for and pretend to work in a different branch like it happened to a colleague i used to work with.Since i was in it department.I had to to check if that email exists in our system before he proceds. It had attachment etc.I just advised him to delete it.Otherwise angeonyeshwa mambo.
How safe and secure is the data people are asked to send as they register for online mobile loans?
I find the data they ask for to be too personal.
My cousin fell victim to phishing in his skrill account. Lost around 600 bucks.
Safety and security is an illusion.

You could have contacted them via inbox. That’s how I operate on social media platforms.
