Slow Sunday..................What If?

There’s an old movie, The Matrix or something, where one can enter and exit the web.

The other day I was just lying on the carpet looking at the slab above and scratching my balls and listening to the BBC report on gravitational waves when I thought, what if all of us and everything we know were characters in a computer game by a super-intelligence? Just terrabytes in a mega-computer created for the fun of an alien ‘God’.

I mean, we humans are, in a very crude and rudimentary way, already creating artificial characters such as cartoons and what are essentially self-aware “avatars” - cartoons with basic AI.

Watched the movie Avatar? Seen all those marvelous animals and plants? May be that’s a crude form of our earth. As humans progress, then they will be able to imbue their fake characters (such as those in Avatar) with self-awareness and space-time dynamics and voila, a new ‘universe’ will be created!

Throw in code that ‘allows’ artificial terrabyte characters to have self-will and to multiply and you have a race/species - all inside a computer!

The possibility of everything being ‘artificial’ and electronic will then explain Enstein’s E=MCsquared rather nicely. Space and time can easily be elastic (in the same way you just reverse a ‘movie’ and go back to the begining, and characters do the same thing over and over again). It would also explain the concept of the soul and why humans still refer to the body as separate entity from themselves (my hand, my head, my cow, my body) - because it is essentially an avatar!

Too little education is dangerous, I admit, and my knowledge of relativity and quantum physics is limited. But I fear we are all just codes - just look at our genes…

MORAL OF THE STORY: Whether or not I get a boner is dependent on time and space. If I bent that and passed through a wormhole, the boner I got when I was 18 could still shaft the Midget Momo in 2047…

I like the way the conceptualization of God changes in relation to human technological advancement and innovation. Our gukas (ahem!) viewed him as a moulder in line with pottery (mumbi) then God became a weaver who weaves our lives the way we weave cotton to make cloth then an artist who paints/writes out our characters and events based on themes now God is a programmer who codes our lives

It’s one of the theories of reality known as the ‘Simulation Hypothesis’. The best we could ever be confident of this probability is if we were able develop the technology to simulate the universe and all its aspects. If we did that, then there would be very little reason to doubt that some other civilization might have achieved the same and we are product of their imagination.

It not that new @Rene Descartes hypothesized about a malicious demon tricking his mind… ergo cogito, cogito ergo sum.

There is an episode of Rick and Morty called The Ricks Must Be Crazy it takes a light approach on the issue.

And diseases such as cancers may be glitches in the system.

Are You Living in a Simulation?
