Awache upus. Uhuru built enough geothermal, wind and solar to power the country into the future. This is a scheme to bring back conman Adani.
Quote:
Uhuru Kenyatta administration significantly increased Kenya’s power generation, primarily through investments in geothermal and wind energy. Key projects included the commissioning of multiple geothermal plants at Olkaria, such as Olkaria I AU 6 and Olkaria V, and the inauguration of the Lake Turkana Wind Power Project. These developments boosted the national grid’s capacity and increased the share of clean energy.
Geothermal Power: The government commissioned several geothermal power plants, such as Olkaria I Additional Unit (AU) 6 which added 86MW, and Olkaria V which added 172MW.
Wind Power: The administration officially launched the Lake Turkana Wind Power Project, sub-Saharan Africa’s largest wind farm at the time, with a capacity of 310MW.
Increased Access: This expansion of generation capacity was coupled with increased efforts to connect more households to the national electricity grid, and over 75% of households had access by 2020, up from below 30% in 2013.
Focus on Clean Energy: The expansion was largely focused on renewable sources, which accounted for 73% of Kenya’s installed electricity generation capacity by 2021. This helped reduce the country’s reliance on costly thermal power generation.
