I haven’t but I’m planning to pack an equivalent of their minimum amount and see what becomes of it after one Year.

Update on Q4-2024 return. Mansa-X yielded impressive returns (over 5%). This has to be the best investment product in Kenya as has been proven for 5 successive years. Of course anyone interested to invest must fo their own due diligence (I checked regulatory framework: spoke to 2 investors and analysed their YoY returns), 19 months later and I have seen incredible returns that no MMF or FD accounts will yield.
How much did your investments return?
Got a clean 60k return from around 600k in principal.
While any investment can result into a loss, i settled on SIB due to the following factors.
- Mansa-X is regulated by CMA. This was an absolute and so should be for any investor. Regulation does not mean you can’t suffer losses but at least it forces the investment firm to have solid investment strategy and liquidity in place in case there are mass withdrawals.
- Stop loss is capped at 25%. That means the most you stand to lose is a quarter of your money in case things really go south.
- Above average returns. 2024 yielded 19.53% return on investment. No investment vehicle comes close to that. Tax free!!

As impressive as this is, it is still much lower than the S&P 500 returns for 2024. Last year was a great year for everyone, but still few beat the safest index of them all, the S&P, which came at 23%.
So, with platforms like Etoro open to Kenyans, I don’t see any reason to withdraw my money to come pay administrative fees to bankers who probably also put your money on the S&P500.
To an advanced investor who knows the investment landscape that is an excellent choice, but to your average investor with little cash then SIB offers a very good choice
S&P 500 gains are from appreciation. SIB is from actual liquid cash paid out every few months or so. I think the best strategy is to have both, let’s say 60% in the S&P 500 and 40% in MMF schemes like SIB for cashflow.
