2:weeks ago, I decided to go for prep in one of the govt hospitals- that’s the only place you will get them easily.(Wanted to raw dick a certain JKUAT girl sikuwa naamini saana, though she had agreed to test). When I was on the line waiting to enter the VCT I realized that the doctors weren’t in hurry. Actually ilinifanya nisirudi job that afternoon.
I finally got in. The doctor alitoka kidogo before tuongee. In the dust bin, I noticed there were a number of used HIV testing kits, plus gloves and so forth. The strip on the top had two lines! That was the first time I saw a strip with two lines. It hit me that a guy had just turned positive. This was my first time to see an HIV strip with two lines! I was really shocked that HIV is real.
Before I got in, there was a lady who kept entering the the doctors room and peeping. I had quarreled her for trying to cut me on the line (remember I only wanted to get the prep and go back to work). But she told me wamekam na bwanake na amekaa sana huko ndani hajatoka. On the walls za hosi walikuwa wamendika they take 45min to one hour per person. For me it took like 5 min. However when i saw the strip, I understood that the ladys husband had turned positive.l deduced that the husband was undergoing a counselling session. I really felt sorry for her.
As I exited the room, the girl was still restless at the reception area going back and forth. I went to another room where I was to be given the prep. Btw I had lied to them that I was single because I didn’t want those long lectures on why a married man shouldn’t cheat.
So we went in and met an older lady who was not the one to give me the tablets, there wete supposed to be a doctor coming. But si unajua how there gorvermnent operates, the doc hakuwa amefika. So I tried to convince the older lady anipee hizo prep nitoke. She eventually did.
However, she was supposed to give me a certain number for picking the PREP dosages (apparently people being given hizo mandawa hukuwa na number). She couldn’t trance the name of the last person who had been issued with prep coz most of them wanachukuanga ARV. She actually told me nikikam after nimemaliza hiyo doze ndio wataniepa number coz she had to consult the doctor. That was an eye opener on how many people wanachukuanga ARVs.
After nimepewa hizo madwa nikitoka, feeling much more ashamed than ukitoka Sabina Joy after kusafisha rungu. Something nimesahau, huko kwa place ya kupimwa kulikwa na statistics walikuwa wameweka kwa wall na manila paper. It was showing the number people they test per month vs how many turn positive. My quick maths calculation gave me an average of 5%. In every 20 people tested, one turns positive.
Anyway, due to the shock I got that day, as a result of that strip, hata hizo prep nilikaa nazo siku tatu nikatupa. I didn’t even fuck that girl.
