Have you watched this show on Discovery about truckers in Northern Europe (huko Sweden, Norway, Finland, etc) during winter? This is exactly what happens when they skid. Think of an understeer/oversteer kind of situation. My best guess in this case would be the direction the front cabin is facing is the original direction of travel.
