A bishop and a prophetess have been arrested for allegedly stealing Sh5.6 million from two worshipers after promising to drive away demons.

Samuel Muchai alias Pastor Brown and Esther Gitau are from United Hope World Reach Church in Nyahururu. The church has branches in Nairobi.

The two were arrested after Caroline Wambugu and Gladys Nyamu reported the matter at Makadara police station.

Police said they obtained Sh4 million via M-Pesa while the rest of the money was handed in cash.

They said the offences were committed on diverse dates between January and March.

4 million via mpesa means transferring 140,000 per day for 29 days.
