The Chief Magistrate of the Busia Law Court, Hon. Edna Nyaloti, today oversaw the destruction of heroin worth approximately Sh11, 808, 000 at Alupe Sub-County Hospital Incinerator.
The exercise, carried out under a court order, involved the incineration of 3,936 grams of heroin, a consignment seized from Mumbi Mwaura, who was convicted and fined Sh50 million or, in default, sentenced to 50 years in prison by the same court on March 18, 2025.
Also destroyed were 337.2 kilograms of bhang, with an estimated street value of Sh10,116,000.
The destruction exercise was witnessed by a multi-agency team comprising officers from the judiciary, National Police Service (NPS), National Environment Management Authority (NEMA), Public Health, Kenya Prisons Service, Kenya Forest Service (KFS), the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), and both County and Sub-County security teams.
The event signifies the government’s commitment in the war against cultivation, production, distribution, and sale of narcotic drugs across the country.
