Lawmakers have been barred from hosting large delegations at Parliament Buildings in a new directive by Speaker Moses Wetang’ula to tighten security within the precincts.

The Speaker directed that MPs reduce the number of visitors at any time of the day and in all places, including the restaurant, in tough security measures that would be employed going forward.

In the stringent steps, security officers have been directed to conduct a thorough search of all MPs’ vehicles before allowing them access to the precincts.

No MP will be allowed to enter the National Assembly with a gun with more entrances beyond which firearms are allowed.
