Traffic police in Mombasa have launched a crackdown on Public Service Vehicles (PSV) exposing children to adult content.
This comes after matatus operating along the Tudor, Mtwapa and Bamburi routes were accused of playing unregulated music videos.
Speaking in his Mombasa office on Thursday, Coast regional traffic commandant Emmanuel Okanda said officers from Makupa, Dog section, and Central police station carried out a joint operation, where several matatus were impounded.
The traffic commandant said officers will impound vehicles flouting the Traffic Act, by having blaring horns and mismatched tyres and also playing loud music.
"Something must be done to create sanity in this matatu sector. We must go back to the era of matatus that complied with traffic regulations. The music videos that the matatus are playing are unregulated,” said Okanda.
“We have therefore, decided that we will not allow any matatu that has a TV screen installed to ply in Mombasa and the entire region," added Okanda, as quoted by The Star.
Okanda said that although the crackdown which is expected to run till the end of August might result in a transport crisis, the law must be adhered to.

Yeah , they have access to internet but that’s don’t mean the law shouldn’t be imposed to forbid exposing them to such content in public.
So much profanity and immorality in those music videos , they had better crack down in Nairobi as well .

bad thing is even banning them doesnt mean that our kids arent being exposed to them everyday
