Ruto's Western Woes Continue...

Chaos erupted in Busia after a section of residents barricaded roads to block Deputy President William Ruto’s motorcade.
A group of young people opposing DP Ruto’s presidency blocked the roads with stones, chanting anti-Ruto slogans.

The Deputy President, who is in Busia to popularise his 2022 presidential bid, did not shy away from addressing the issue, accusing his political rivals of orchestrating and using young people to cause chaos.

The DP shamed the politicians for paying youth to cause the violence and warned that his government will not allow bureaucrats to use young people, but rather he will create job opportunities for them.

Reports indicated that following the chaos in Busia, the DP scaled down his political engagements in the area.

“We will remove these people who are asking the youth to carry stones. We want to tell those people who are using the young people of our nation, shame on you. The characters who are paying children of other citizens to cause violence, shame on you,” DP Ruto remarked.

Kapseret Member of Parliament, Oscar Sudi, blasted former Internal Security Assistant Minister, Stephen Tarus, over a statement from the Orange

Democratic Movement (ODM) leader, Raila Odinga, that he read at the burial of Olympian Agnes Tirop.

Sudi, on Saturday, October 23, accused Tarus of duping the congregation with the statement adding that politicians were taking the moment to score points for their favourite candidates.

He further termed the actions by Tarus as a circus and accused politicians who represented the former Prime Minister of being conmen.

The Member of Parliament stated that the government does not value athletes and the recent Olympics were proof, drawing a comparison the Kenyan athletes received compared to their Ugandan counterparts under the leadership of President Yoweri Museveni.

Sudi claimed that Tarus had authored the statement that he purported was from Raila and accused him of only pushing the ODM leader’s agenda because of the monetary benefits he was enjoying. He further called Tarus out for supporting Raila as a way to spite Deputy President William Ruto.

“CAS of Sports is here reading us statements but the national government has not done anything for these athletes.
We have very many conmen here, even this government is just full of conmen.
Another one here is purporting to read a statement from Raila, this is just fraud,” Sudi stated.

“I can tell you for free that Tarus has written that statement himself. All these people are just frauds.
I saw Tarus speaking in Eldoret the other day against Ruto. Your stomach is very small compared to all these people,
don’t speak against someone from your own bloodline,” he added.

Sudi hit out at Tarus after his remarks on Friday, October 15, during Raila’s Azimio La Umoja Rift Valley tour where he asked Kenyans to ‘stop thinking that all Kalenjins are thieves.

Tarus, launched scathing attacks against the Deputy President, accusing him of contributing to the Rift Valley region’s woes.

Ambassador Tarus stated that the Rift Valley people have long been oppressed and he accused DP Ruto of killing the region’s economy.

“First of all, I would like to thank the Right Hon Prime Minister for finding this rare opportunity to meet the oppressed people of Rift Valley,” he stated.

He maintained that DP Ruto had destroyed the region’s economy by refusing to pay farmers and taking money from cereals board.

He further faulted the DP for selectively appointing people in government and destroying careers of great men and women in the region such as former Minister of Agriculture, Sally Kosgei, former parliamentarian, and Kenya’s High Commissioner to South Africa, among other leaders.
