Ruto's ICC Lawyer Karim Khan &Nandi vs Colonial England

Prominent ICC lawyer Karim Khan who is known for his victory in Deputy President William Ruto’s case in the ICC was on Tuesday hired by the Nandi County Government.

The Nandi County Government is suing the British Government over atrocities against the community in the colonial era and has hired Karim to spearhead the case.

The county is accusing the British government of forced detention, rape, killings and land grabbing during the colonial period.

The announcement means that a team of lawyers under Mr Khan will review available records and continue to collect testimonies from people in Nandi who claim they were mistreated by British colonialists.

The British government has in the past tried to detach itself from blame for past injustices during their colonial time in Kenya but is always forced into a tight corner for its past misdeeds.

In 2014, the British government issued an official blanket regret after a group of Mau Mau survivors sued it for compensation.

Karim Ahmad Khan is a British lawyer and specialist in international criminal law and international human rights law. He rose to fame in Kenya after winning cases for the Deputy President and former Head of Civil Service Francis Muthaura.
