Big tourist countries like Britain, France and USA get billions of dollars in visa revenues but this PhD holder wants to throw away that sweet revenue alafu akuje kupandisha bei ya unga. What kind of roadside thinking is this?
“He then enrolled at the University of Nairobi to study Botany and Zoology, graduating in 1990 with a Bsc. He went on to complete a Msc in Plant Ecology also from the University of Nairobi”
US has very tough entry rules but still receives 50M visitors yearly. Those who want to come, would come. The Evisa experience is part of the package. Its a feature, not a bug.
The amount of money spent on visa fees to Kenya is almost negligible in some cases compared to the value some tourists bring. They should be careful though not just letting any chokoraa fucker enter the country.

Watu wanataka visa usumbuka. Others eventually wanamua to go to places like TZ where hakuna these manenos.
Somebody explain to me the logic of allowing citizens from poor nations free access to Kenya?? Upuzi mtupu.
We already have Somali peasants, South Sudanese peasants, Ugandan maids, Nigerian scammers, Tanzanian beggars, and Rwandese/Ethiopian prostitutes. What exactly is the logic of allowing peasants to come here and compete with Kenyan peasants for employment opportunities??
Kenya’s GDP per capita is $2000. If anything he should hike those visa costs by 10X for citizens in countries below $20k GDP per capita because those citizens are unlikely to spend and likely to settle here illegally. The only people worth giving Visa free access to are citizens from wealthy nations because they are more likely to spend their cash here, and they wont compete for employment opportunities with locals.
I apply for that visa several times a year for my relatives, sometimes last minute, and never had any issues whatsoever. Yani ndege iko in about 5 hours time and I get it within minutes. I have never experienced issues and never heard anyone I know with any problems. Getting visas to go to their countries takes months and you’re never sure you will even get it. Hii ni guarantee without a million requirements. And tourists plan months in advance so a website sometimes not work for a couple of hours would not be a problem.
I understand the logic of abolishing visa requirements for an American/German/Australian/Canadian etc.
I don’t understand the logic of allowing visa free access to a Nigerian, Chinese, Indian, Sri Lankan, etc.
The first group of citizens is wealthy and highly skilled. When they come, they will either spend their cash here, or invest in industries that require complex skills.
The second group consists of peasants who have nothing to spend and no technology/skills to bring here. Yani ni watu bure tuu who will try and live here illegally while competing against our own group of unemployed youths for job opportunities. The last thing you want is seeing a Nigerian bouncer at your favorite club instead of Wanyonyi, or Mr Ling selling mtumba in Gikosh instead of Njeri.
