Great men always take the path less traveled bro. Assassinating him tho at this point would be counter productive and risky. It’s better to have the Ukrainians under one command that you can engage and Incase of a peace deal,someone that as the moral authority to lead n ensure its enforced. Rather than have them go rogue into different factions… then the situation becomes more complex and complicated.
Every faction will have different agendas, vision, purpose, demands, rules of engagement will differ for their struggle without a clear unifying leadership. Some will be moderate, others will turn extremist. Bringing them together will be more difficult. The risk to Russia’s internal/national security will be much greater. Bombs will start exploding inside Russia. I’m sure Putin’s Generals would be keen to avoid that and likely advise against it. It’s a case of better the devil you know … than an angel you don’t. I doubt Putin would want to hand him that level of a legacy either. By killing him now, he will have effectively cemented the man’s legacy for centuries to come making him a martyr … firmly imprinting his name in the history books of Ukraine forever and handing him an almost godlike status. That alone will kill Putin faster than anything else.

Your assessment of the situation is like he is all loved by Ukrainians which is unrealistic especially in a divided country like Ukraine. Every leader has internal enemies and they will take the opportunity to grab power from him swiftly. All Russia needs to do is to capture him and hand him over to his internal enemies and they will skin him alive, Gadhafi style
