I think , Russia pulling out of Kherson was a blunder , also not shelling all Ukrainian barracks to ash was a blunder. Also not taking over Kyiv even for one month was a blunder.
The Kherson pullout showed weakness. This move has emboldened NATO in such a way that they have decided to invoke article 4 over a phantom/fake missile attack on Poland.

kyiv, kharson and Kherson may more cosmopolitan with less ethnic russiaan population. either armed forces has limited range beyond a yet to be decided frontline. i think the special military operation was a border calibration process done with a combination of fight and talk to come up with a final line between slavic russia and germanic ukraine.
poland is a very germanized slavic country that is naturally gravitating toward NATO that is nothing more than a germanic military alliance forged primarily to counter Slavs. Communism was never the cause of beef between Europeans. Its tribal. Their tribal wars are usually about extermination of losers. you have more to fear from germanic mongols - they engineered their reputation in war around genocide and enslavement.
Pulling out of Kherson was the right move because they had Intel the Ukrops were planning to destroy an upstream dam which would have meant 30,000 troops could not be supplied.
