President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni claiming ownership or control over the Indian Ocean is the clearest proof that power, when overstayed, corrodes reason.
How can a man who has ruled Uganda for nearly four decades, silenced dissent, jailed opponents, and reduced his nation to a banana republic now claim dominion over an ocean he doesn’t even border spiritually?
Museveni has turned Uganda into a personal ranch where the constitution bends at his will, the youth flee in despair, and freedom exists only on paper.
Now, he speaks of oceans perhaps because he has exhausted the land.
A man who cannot fix roads in Kampala, who cannot guarantee fair elections, who has weaponized poverty and fear, has no business talking about the Indian Ocean. His claim is not geopolitical it’s delusional, the final utterance of a ruler drunk on decades of unchecked power.
Museveni doesn’t own the Indian Ocean.
He doesn’t even own the respect of his people anymore.
He owns only what every despot ends up with shame, isolation, and a dying legacy.
