Butchery usually do this. Meat fresh ndio huuza ile sio fresh.
Stock ya zamani is usually spiked kwa ile hook iko na nyama fresh kubwa. Unakatiwa the main one kidogo hapo down alafu anarudi hapo juu kwa stock mzee anakata ya zamani kiasi.
Also the old stock can be put hapo huwa wanakatia mifupa so always be careful.
Ukifika hapo sahau urafiki and insist ukatiwe kwa hio main yenye ni fresh. Personally, sipendi fresh meat so I look for the most dry looking meat nasema ikatwe hapo.
Meat is not something you consume without knowing where it comes from. Most of the meat being sold in regular markets is unregulated and toxic to health. You would rather be vegan most of the time and once in a while, source your meat from a certified meat supplier like the Well Hung Butcher.

Manzee along kangundo road njiru area iko butcheries that sells a kg of beef for like half price i.e around 300/kg. Guys says it’s hizo nyama sickly za akina @Gaza zinauzwa hapo. What should concern us though is that ukipita hapo mid morning, utapata ma pro box, pickups and nduthi taking deliveries to your favourite restaurant or caterer. So ukiwa hapo uptown don’t think you’re safe.
Kwanza hao wanauza mizoga mbaya sana. They know their halal certificate makes them look legit, but don’t expect any business man not to sell any fallen animal just because he cleans his ass with a bottle of water.
Ask yourself why even with a Halal certificate they don’t sell Matumbo/tripe in Lamu, Tana River and it’s environs.
The quality of meat in most butcheries has gone down.
Either rotten or
Preserved with chemicals or
Sourced from sick animals or
Too much fat or
Meat from wildlife.
Finding good meat is a challenge
Possible. Where I buy, ukienda at 5pm hutapata nyama, you’ll find them cleaning the place as they close at 6.

Nyama kanairo ni swara kupata kitu legit. Hapo Njiru nasikia walikuwa wanachinja ngombe hata hiwezi simama yenyewe. Hizo nyama huingizwa Burma meat market back door. Nyama inakuliwa kanairo ni mungu tu anajua. Kwanza akina samosa na mutura…am sure kuna wasee walikula fisi juzi

Don’t be concerned about the source of the meat you consume especially in these big towns. Just cook it properly until you are sure it’s safe for consumption. And pray it doesn’t harbor dangerous pathogens like anthrax
