ROOTS REGGAE FRIDAY MESSAGE EDITION

[CENTER]Music is creation. In reggae the lyric, the music itself, arrangement, that vibe, such melody - everything within the music moves the people, understand?

reggae is the style of music I always reach for when ranting to friends about how you could listen to one style of music exclusively for the rest of your life - and it would all be great and varied and worth hearing. …

wollan man…gheto pressure…kaliest sana

Oh yeah, whoah yeah

From day to day we live
Searching for our identity
While the rih man says
We are a menace to society
But they don’t know what it’s like (they don’t know)
What it’s really like
What it’s really like

To face real ghetto pain
To face real ghetto pressure
To face real ghetto pain
To face real ghetto pressure

On and on we go
For it we try to uphold
Our brothers turn to crime
Killing each other for a dime
While the opressor say
That turning to politics is the only way

To face real ghetto pain
To face real ghetto pressure
To face real ghetto pain
To face real ghetto pressure

One day, one day the table will turn
One day, one day the table will turn
To all men out there (to all men out there)
Beware for our barriers will burn (burn burn burn)

On and on we go
For it we try to uphold
Our brothers turn to crime
Killing each other for a dime
While the opressor say
That turning to politics is the only way

To face real ghetto pain
To face real ghetto pressure
To face real ghetto pain
To face real ghetto pressure

(…)

One day, one day the table will turn
One day, one day the table will turn
To all men out there (to all men out there)
Beware for our barriers will burn (burn burn burn)

On and on we go
For it we try to uphold
Our brothers turn to crime
Killing each other for a dime
While the opressor say
That turning to politics is the only way

To face real ghetto pain
To face real ghetto pressure
To face real ghetto pain
To face real ghetto pressure

I always recall the first time I heard this song:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rwmb7pbXSnU

That one day nikitoka shule naelekea home. I wasn’t particularly a Duane fan but this song grew on me. Took me like forever to figure out he was the singer.

This song and the ghetto pain are the coolest songs in this genre. I really like them.

Agreed. Funny thing I listened to it on one of those days nilikuwa down sana and the song somehow stuck in my mind.
