When I was a kid, I invented my own way of easily roasting maize.
Just after the githeri had been removed from the jiko ya kuni and the fireplace left free with no fire, I would bury my maize inside the hot ash and go do my stuff or play a bit.
10 minutes later, I would be back to check on my roast maize ama ni grilled?
It would be an evenly cooked nice orange maize very sweet.

Hehee I remember that method. There’s also another one with the very green maize. Just throw the maize with the cover (the green covering) in fire. The trapped moisture steams the maize perfectly. It also has a very nice aroma
Preferably not directly on flame. Eka kwa base ya moto. Remember your not removing even a single cover and the maize should be milky one (okidunga na hukucha hinatoa masigwa)
