Restaurant in CBD Nairobi

Looking for affordable place within town to put up a restaurant. Anyone with info of a strategic place where I won’t pay goodwill please?

Things dont work that way.

Goodwill within town is a must pay anko

Boss the only way to evade goodwill is that you buy those foodtrucks. Hapo u will be saving alot in terms of rent coz you will be paying parking fee pekee yake

lazima kun so many hidden kanjo fees ukiweka foodtruck CBD. But its true hata with fees hawezi umia kama goodwill

Wasomali wengi hawalipishi goodwill especially kwa wenzao.

There are buildings without goodwill…

Na hao ndio wanalipishwa goodwill wazimu na wanaitoa tu.

Not in the CBD

Long term thinking. Wanaitoa, wana-acquire then eventually open businesses with their people in the same building without charging goodwill.

That’s how you empower yourself as a community economically.

The rest of us will want to make the equivalent of a retirement plan off of a fellow brother. And that’s how we end up stagnating.

in retail business, the single most important factor that will determine whether you will succeed or fail is location. premium location comes at premium prices. those somalis you guys are talking of even pay crazy goodwill and rents for those spaces they occupy in luthuli. their only secret is that they gang up to raise the money, while we are capitalistic in nature.

goodwill is extortion

True. They get a place lease and do some crazy interior design. There is some fear that they might take over cbd if they are allowed to buy buildings

Goodwill alone for a ground floor space in cbd goes for 10 million and above.

Goodwill is for business premises not office space

food trucks are only practical in event catering, where food is pre prepared. a restaurant requires far more logistics than the truck can provide.

Good will is there in all major towns in Kenya

If you are dealing with a reputable estate agent you don’t have to pay goodwill. It arise out of dealings with mainly caretakers or buying out the tenancy of an outgoing tenant. I was seeking to move offices, I met someone who had an office in town which he offered at 1.7m with quarterly rent of 90K plus service charges, about 2 weeks later I got information that the building was being managed by Regent who offered me a similar office in the same building for 90K plus a deposit of equal amount in addition to service charge. In total it costed less than 600k for interior decor, rent, deposit and moving.

Good will is part of corruption, and contributes to the high cost of things; it is a very high cost for any business start-up and impedes prospective business.
Where else in the world do you go to rent a business premise and you have to pay large undocumented tax free fee. It ought to be banned and prohibited by law.

I concur with you. Goodwill should be banned.
