Remember when our ancestors fought for freedom from enslavement?

We are officially back. If you work then give more than half your pay, what do you call that? Not slavery?

Our ancestors used to sing this song before going to war with the colonialists and white guards. People from the mountain had more to lose back then as they have now.

Wakenya tusikubali kurudi utumwani. I’m happy that our mountain people have realised that they were not created to be slaves once again. Let us remember that our ancestors left us freedom, we must keep that freedom safe otherwise their blood will be in vain.

Let this song remind us mountain people that we are not built for slavery. We stand up to oppressors. I love listening to how we came to be free because one day we will retell that story. Of how an oppressor rose and how we overcame him. May the Almighty give us courage and wit to overcome.
