So itās Purim today, one of my favorite holidays and one of the happiest days on the Jewish calendar.
That being said, there are some things we need to discuss.
Letās start with the obvious.
Hashemās name is not mentioned in the entire book of Esther. This bothers literally all the commentary because the story was so obviously a miracle. How could God not be mentioned?
The answer is in the name of the book. Esther from the word Hester, which means āHiddenā. God was clearly running the story from behind the scenes. He was the puppet master but he did it without splitting any seas or performing any open miracles. The story is mainly geopolitical and the miracles all happened through nature.
At the time of Purim, when the leader of the world decided to annihilate the Jews, the Jews would never in a million years have recognized the miracle. Itās easy to see Godās involvement in hindsight but isnāt that the way it always is?
Isnāt that the way it is today?
God performing incredible miracles right before our eyes but we canāt see it. Why? Because weāre in it.
You think 10/7 was dark? Try having the king of 127 countries issue a decree that every single Jew is to be killed.
Thereās your first obvious parallel. God is all over the story of purim as He is all over our story today.
Every time the iron dome detonates a rocket. Every time the arrow intercepts a missile outside of earthās atmosphere. Every time Iran fails to hit Israel. Every time Israel eliminates a huge terrorist.
Miracles all around us. Letās not wait for our grandkids to tell the story and recognize the obvious miracles. Letās acknowledge them now!
So, in the story of Purim, how did the evil Haman, the greatest antisemite in history, or at least one of them, how did he describe the Jews to king Achashverosh?
āThere is this nation who is spread and divided among the nations.ā
He recognized that we were not united, that we were divided. Like all of our enemies, he used our division to try and attack us because he knew that when we are divided, we are weak.
Just like Hamas did on 10/7. Israel was in turmoil and there was endless internal fighting about the judicial reform.
Hamas said to its Iranian funders, āThere is this nation who is spread and divided among the nations. Now is the time to attack.ā
And they did. And they were right. When we are divided, we are weak. When we are united, we are unstoppable.
Achashverosh, who flip flopped between being ok with the Jews to wanting to kill all the Jews, and then back to saving the Jews, sound familiar?
Achashverosh # 1= Obama
Achashverosh # 2= Trump 1.0
Achashverosh # 3 = Biden
Achashverosh # 4= Trump 2.0
Ultimately, Achashverosh was on our side and ended up eliminating the evil Haman.
Who is the evil Haman today? You tell me. Who tried and called for the annihilation of Israel and the Jewish people for decades?
Not Haman, but Khamanei. Now remove the KH in the beginning and EI at the end. What do you have left? Thatās right. Haman.
So king Achashverosh, after going back and forth, ultimately decides to kill the evil Haman and save the Jews.
But it wasnāt only Haman who was ultimately killed. It was his ten sons too.
Who are the ten sons today? Well, thatās easy.
1- Yahya Sinwar
2- Nasrallah
3- Haniyeh
4- Deif
5- Issa
6- Saleh al-Arouri
7- Hashem Safieddine
8- Ibrahim Aqil
9- Nabil Kaouk
10- Mohammed Sinwar
So, who is Esther in our story? Who was the heroic woman who was close with the king and who fought for her people and ultimately made Achashverosh save the Jews?
Well, letās see. Can you think of a woman close to Trump who influences him and makes him more loyal to the Jews?
Meet Ivanka Trump.
Esther, like Ivanka operated behind the scenes and ended up saving the Jewish people.
At the end of the day, there was a very evil man who wanted all the Jews dead. That man was in Persia aka Iran and his plot almost worked. He had some minor success. Until he didnāt. Then the king turns on him and ultimately he dies (like a dog) and the Jews survive and continue to thrive.
Then there is Mordechai.
Mordechai, when though the whole world was bowing down to the evil Haman, he refused to do so. He didnāt give in even though it would have been a whole lot easier and safer to just bow down. For a long time, the world caved to Haman. They made deals with him. They let him and his evil ambitions run wild. But there was one man who didnāt. One man who stood before congress and before anyone who would listen and declared that Haman needed to be stopped.
There was one man who, for decades, called to stop the evil Haman of our day. When no one listened, he continued to warn everyone about Khamaneiās nuclear ambitions and finally, finally the world listened and destroyed Khamanei.
That man is Bibi.
What do we know about Mordechai? The Megillah says he was an āIsh Yeminiā, a man who came from the tribe of⦠wait for it⦠Benjamin. Yes, Benjamin.
Whether you see the parallel or you donāt see the parallel, the fact remains that the story of purim is not that unique. It is a script that keeps repeating itself.
An empire, a world leading empire, as it grows it begins to turn on the Jews. The empire decides itās time to get rid of the Jews but their plot fails, the Jews survive, and the Jewish people flourish.
That was our story then. It was our story in Egypt. In Rome. In Greece. In Germany. In Russia. And today, itās happening again across the western world.
They can try to plot as much as they want. Theyāll fail. The Jewish people will survive, will win, and will continue to thrive.
In other words, every Jewish holiday is the same.
They tried to kill us. They failed. We eat. And on Purim, we drink too!
Enjoy watching the modern day purim unfold before our eyes.
And one more thing.
When did this war start? The war in which the evil Haman of today was ultimately eliminated? It started on Shabbat as we, the Jewish people, sat in synagogue and read the Torah portion commanding us to erase Amalek, the evil nation that obsessed over killing the Jews.
We read how we are commanded to eliminate Amalek as the Israeli Airforce did exactly that.
Coincidence? Sureā¦
Happy Purim, folks!!
