They are all insured.

Delivered in April 2016, for almost 1B, destroyed in September, just 4 months of service. Another police chopper clashed just three weeks ago. These aircraft ought to serve the country for more than thirty years, eg the Kenya air force puma’s. Something somewhere is not right.

Those guys risked their lives to save victims trapped inside the helicopter. They deserve recognition. Mimi siwepanda helicopter hata kama ni ile ya Obama. Those things were never meant to be in the sky. One minor fault it crashes on ground like gunia thrown from 8th floor of those slum crappers of Umoja

Their are only 11 companies in Kenya that can insure Helicopters in Kenya. The total premium would be MINIMUM KES60,000,000.00 (I was involved in Insurance for KWS helicopters). For this helicopter only 3 Insurance Companies will meet the minimum requirements.
Now this being a new helicopter, and the amount being over KES1,000,000.00, insurance had to be tendered. Since it is under Interior Ministry (base ya Ukora Kenya) this tender might have been restricted. But, I can’t remeber any Insurance ya Helicopter za Police Service Kenya.
The Kenya Police Airwing has four Mi-17 helicopters, registration numbers: 5Y-STA, 5Y-SFA, 5Y-EDM, and 5Y-UKW. This is a AgustaWestland helicopter of Italy, a NEW helicopter that was to be insured this year.

Sasa ukiuliza watu THIS HELICOPTER WAS STILL UNDER AgustaWestlands and the Insurance is under them. They were still under training and testin the aircraft due to its limited capabilities.
