Why pay so much for your kid to be told Mzungu ni Mungu and be victimized for being a minority black in a school when there’s other schools without this racist crap? Blacks are their own worst enemies. Pay fees for your kid to stay in a school that entertains such nonsense?

The Peponi School in Ruiru is one of the few schools offering British Curriculum in Kenya and East Africa, owned by the Kenyatta family.
From outside, it is one of the most beautiful schools in Kenya that every leaner would like to go through.
However, things are different when one goes in, too rotten especially for the African child.

According to a former student, many black-skinned students who go through Peponi School have gone through hell, and most end up depressed to a point of contemplating suicide.
According to the victim using the Twitter handle @rnbfayz, she was transferred from Braeside High School, another British Curriculum school, but she was ridiculed by fellow students for coming from the ghetto.
“Upon arrival, a few students and I were ridiculed by other white and indian students for being “ghetto” && coming from “ghetto schools”. This didn’t disclude the mixed race students who were also protected by the entire system. They too, acted very elitist because they were aware of their protection and privilege,” she writes.

According to the victim, the black students were the first suspects in case anything bad happened in the school, regardless of the evidence available.
“(One time) someone in the girls dorms activated the fire alarm at 3am. Confused, we all were forced out of dorms. Only for the black girls who previously were in “ghetto schools” to be held back, accused and questioned because again… Racism,” she laments.
“The last straw before we all flipped and really gave them the ghetto they deserved was when 3 girls in the dorms had their laptops stolen in the middle of the night. No CCTV evidence throught the school, nothing. But you know, number 1 suspects had to be us again,” she adds.

At one time, the US politics were used to entrench racism in the school, during President Barack Obama’s debate against John McCain. The ‘white’ students walked around the school chanting “mzungu ni mungu (white man is god)” while shoving McCain posters in black students faces.

“When it was Obama vs John McCain, these white students walked around the school chanting “Mzungu ni Mungu” while shoving McCain posters in black students faces. Teachers were aware. School was aware,” she says.
“I say all this to say that systemic racism is very much alive. This was 10 years ago. I really wonder what’s going on there today,” she adds.

I can assure you that this school does not have any racial problems, I know first hand. in this school, it is quite common for black students to call themselves ghetto in a joking way and trust me if they are any so-called elitists the whole school wouldn’t support it including the students. while I will say like in any other school certain racial groups stick with each other and don’t mix very often, the community in the school regardless is quite racially accepting. but for real the school fees are high as fuuuk .

So you know better than someone that actually studied in the school? I actually read the thread but seems the chic deleted her account. At the bottom you could see comments from other kids that have faced the same.

As long as they don’t allow racism that’s all that matters. Its just money. What I wouldn’t like is to take my child to any school and they’re being maltreated bcz of their race. That’s tragic and it’s bad for their self esteem during the most formative years of their life. I also don’t like the idea of going into boarding school until one is in high school. By high school a child has developed an identity and bullying will have less impact.

I am of the view that all boarding schools should be abolished. I would not take my kids to any of them.

Especially nowadays there’s a lot of mess going on in schools. Drugs especially is huge in boarding schools. They have to get sniffer dogs for opening day nowadays. I heard about a story of a high school girl who was a dealer in her school. She’d gotten addicted and started selling to support her habit. In Form 2. It’s getting crazy in these schools. No wonder they burn buildings.

And also gay manenos. Besides if you think about it deeply, why would you not want to see your child for most of the year.
It is not easy parenting today coz hata akiwa in a day school, the dangers are many too but…

Kenyan parents don’t want the responsibility. They take kids to boarding at the first available opportunity now with lockdown they’re at their wits end.

No way someone will pay 2 million a year and his child is being abused daily in school.

It is even so wrong if the abuse is taking place in our own country. There are other good schools that are not necessarily in this league. But I guess these parents are after the International standards.
