Maybe Putin is getting demented like all dictators in times of prolonged wars. They start seeing enemies and traitors in everybody. They kill kill any illusion of a traitor until they have nobody left to kill. Slowly the close circle starts drifting away out of fear they might be next or failure to comprehend what the leader has become. He starts making erratic decisions without consulting and when put to task over it they blow a fuse. From here, it’s downhill to suicidetown
