I’m from the northern side of the Mountain where we call it Kirimara and have a different myth of origin. In our story we wandered to the mountain side. Created elsewhere.
They had 10 daughters but 9 got “married” thus the 9 clans… In other news, the theories of 'my origin’are 3. First, ile ya Bible, where God created Adam & Eve etc, etc, the second theory is ile nilisoma GHC about evolving from Homo habilis, to erectus to Sapien & finally “ndì Múnjiru wa mbarí ya Mígwí”
mbari ya kihara around Rwaka ,gachie, kihara ndenderu Rwino very dangerous ppl. Zamani ni lipeleka friends wangu hapo Rwaka tukashop spares hio shop ya Ndungu .as the mechanic was doing repair Tulane choma in one of the joint ,my my men started flocking like vultures and took it by force !We just had to pay !

Ours is not so much a creation myth but oral history of our (Meru) migration from an island at the coast.
Its long and complicated and I’m not very good at telling it.
Red skinned people arrive at this island, they enslave us. A leader emerges Koomenjue who tricks the slavers. Merus escape in the night, dawn and daybreak. From the escape times you get three mother clans; Njiru for those escaped in the night, njaro for day and the third one I don’t remember.
They follow the Tana over generations and eventually settle at a place in Tharaka where dispersion happens. In lower primary school we would take rounds in telling the story as recalled from narrations from grandparents. In the story a man called Muthetu is split open and his intestines examined for clues
