Infact, many African students without means of coming back home, lived in Germany through out the war, some got inscripted into the War but these rarely got set out to the frontline.
A distant older family member has gone to Germany with returning missionaries at a very tender age (it was a normal practice and many never returned) only for him to return to Kenya right after Kenya attained independence in 63.

But the black man was not treated better in any of the camps… even the black soldiers who fought for the US were racially segregated even when giving their lives for the US.
It was so bad, after Germany had fallen, a black US soldier could not eat in the same restaurant as a white US soldier, but a former NAZI white soldier could, imagine being treated worse than people you fought and were ready to die ?
