This might flop faster than they can say “united”.

EAC is useless, let’s concentrate on the new Africa trade federation. Tz will always drag us down. We make more money and trade on comes a than EAC and that has been swallowed up by the new Africa trade agreement.

But, @spear, I think we hurtling towards oblivion in matters of trade. Tanzania has managed to effectively brick wall all goods and services from Kenya. At the same time, they have done all they can to sell as much goods to Kenya as possible. Meanwhile, even with little protectionism and government manipulations, Uganda is selling more goods to Kenya than vise versa. Can’t you see that we are headed for an uncertain future?

Uganda only sold more goods to Kenya in year 2017 because we experienced a drought and poor harvest in that year. Its not the same this year. Same to Tanzania. They sell us fresh produce and we sell to them manufactured or processed products. Besides over 60% of those who handle goods between the nations are Kenyans. Yes Uganda manufacturing has improved steadily for the last decade which was expected but we are still ahead and growing. What we need is more markets like Ethiopia opening up trade imports and transport corridor is more important.

What he’s trying to say is that TZ and UG are doing something right that we aren’t.

I have always said we need to advance the type of goods we produce,
in the near future all 3 nations of UG,TZ n KE will be producing the same type of goods…
1.raw farm produce
2.processed farm produce
3.simple manufactured home use products like soap, earbuds …plastic cups etc

Kenya needs to move a step higher to more complex goods, assembled electronics and machinery, spare parts and machine parts, …that way we will still be relevant in the next half-a-century… before they catch up we will be casting engines and fabricating computer processors.

This is the only way out., this competition of selling onions and cabbages is no good
