…has been made by Nominated MP Gideon Keter. Nimeona kwa Nation.
Next target is the age of consent…
Lord have mercy.
Mwalimu Gashui ka Bata wacha upuss.Hata wewe unaleta news nusu nusu kama Malair akiwa amekosa kulipwa na Culture baada ya kuchunishwa skuma usiku mzima?
it’s fine.
In the larger scheme of matters, this is what has bothered the ‘honorable’ member of the joke that is the Kenyan parliament?
I cry for my beloved country…
In Trumpistan the Social Security number (de-facto ID there) can be issued at birth. Yaani unaeza chukua with the birth certificate. Correct me if am wrong @Purple . So issuing IDs to minors wont be strange or new.
What will be the implications in .ke?
I think it’s good ikipeanwo at birth, ndio ikuwe attached to everything you do from primary school to university to when you become a taxpayer… it would even save the other one Matiang’i was introducing in the education sector. Just one number all your life. It’s your identity.
Should it sail through how many new voters in the short term?
banaa tukamue vitu fresh za 16 years bila kujificha
hehehe… 10m more voters. But if that’s what’s the motive of it all then our leaders are very myopic.
Issuing IDs to 16 year olds will not make them 18. You still have to be an adult to vote.
but to vote you only need an ID card, right?
Age of consent is still 18
You just have to be an adult, evidenced by an ID.

Wapewe I dont care Kenyan teenagers are the most lazy. Do you think wataamka @5.00 apange laini apige kura.
but it will be up to the courts to determine who is an adult once 16 years olds are given IDs.
Giving an identification card doesn’t change age of consent. It’s just for identification purposes. It is just a laminated card. To say who you are eg to a policeman. They can be given temporary ones that have to be renewed at 18 and which can’t be used to vote.
After all , you already have an ID just not in physical presence eg a birth certificate, school record, etc.
The SSN has nothing to do with ID:rolleyes: those are issued at 16 and compulsory at 18 and the reason is because kids start working and driving at 16. Whats the reasoning behind kenya’s change?
