I need advice on how to develop a certain electronic product. Now its a small electronic gadget, lets call it an electronic torch.I have the concept and all but I am not sure on how to make the sample. Anybody in the know how of where i could get some few samples manufactured locally?
Well its really difficult to get a market ready product that is well finished and works as per standards done here locally because hardware isn’t as easy as you think especially if it requires tooling. Best route is build a prototype here to get market feedback and opinion before finding a product (Industrial design) development firm to build as they have the tools and experience to do this and can also give you valuable advice on your product feasibility. In Africa, they are mainly found in SA
So is there a place locally I would submit my Concepts/Designs so they could make a prototype for me. Again do you have ideas about the cost of the same?
Can try Gearbox at Bishop Magua, with professional Ind.Design firms they charge per stage generally being CAD drawing design analysis, and actual development. Can range from '000,000’s to millions depending on product complexity and firm. When starting out, get a small boutique firm, they are cheaper as they have less overheads
Fully fledged industrial design firms? Nope
Most firms have an elec, mech and software eng as the core stuff and the equipment to build CNCs, 3D printers, creativity and can start off with simple projects
