I was tasked by some agency to weigh in on the issue of independent candidates. I handed in my paper this past Monday.
When researching on this matter, I realised, like I have previously said here, that Independent candidate s will be the death of political parties. Many people in future, rather than subject themselves to skewed party nomination, and lose money so doing, will opt to go Independent and take their odds with the voters at the General elections.
There are many pros and cons to this trend but, ultimately, democracy may have a fighting chance in Kenya. We will no longer have to pay homage to a political deity, nor follow our party leaders in Parliament deliberation and Bill and motions. This trend, though dangerous were the cartels to find their way in, will free our politician’s to reserve their priorities to their constituents,… Their voters back home. Then democracy will win.
Nice weekend peaceful Kenyans.
Private candidates ndio wagani tena?
