Pres Salva Kiir yesterday evening fired his Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces LT Gen Paul Malong and replaced him with another fellow dinka tribesman General Ajango Mawut…this coming just hours after the Vice President Taban Deng 's convoy ran into an well organised ambush on the Juba - Bor road and was viciously attacked by unknown militia forces leading to heavy casualties. Deng was going to Bor to mediate a conflict between the Bor Dinka and the Murle which was spiralling out of control. The conflict which was initially over grazing rights…has waged on for weeks with cross raids between the Murle and Dinka militias…the leaders of the Murle community had accused the Govt of siding with the Dinka by sending the Army and the Dinka Mathiang Anyor (Malong’s personal Militia)to fight them.
Whether Paul Malong was fired because his personal militia staged the ambush or because of the inability of the Army to protect the VP is not clear .
Conflicting reports are that Malong is under house arrest while others say he’s fled juba heading back to his tribal Aweil region where he most certainly consolidate his militia and take on Salva Kiir.
Paul Malong is one of the most influential member of the Dinka Council of Elders and is rumoured to have immense wealth spread all over East Africa. He has over 30 wives and dozens of children and has support of powerful friends in political circles in kenya and Uganda. Who the Dinka JCE (Jieng Council of Elders) and the Army will support is unknown.
It will not be the first time that Dinka Generals have fought each other for power…even Garang and current president Salva Kiir at one time were on different factions. It was one of the tactics that the Arabic North Sudan used to divide and keep the "Abied " busy fighting each other by covertly backing different factions.
VP Taban Deng is viewed as a traitor and opportunitist by many Nuer for agreeing to serve as VP just weeks after Riek Machar was ousted. The attack on his convoy has solidified the Nuer belief that the Dinka cannot be trusted.
The state of the VP is still unknown but J1 has announced that Deng is alive and well and blamed the attack on SPLA- IO

Hio mikono iko na bullet scars visible from far. Sometimes i wish these nearnderthals should be fenced off from the world na kuachwa wapigane marisasi hadi waishe wote.
As I had indicated on my earlier thread "Attack on Juba One ", it would only be a matter of time before either Malong or Salva makes a move…No Kingmaker is loyal and no kings wants a monkey on his shoulders…
There three different kinds of SPLA Commanders who are fighting for power
The War Heroes
These are the true and real SPLM .They have spent all and I mean all their lives in the bush some starting as young as 7 years. They have fought the Arabs all their lives since they were conscripted as child soldiers into the SPLA .They have never betrayed their tribe or the movement by working with the Arabs. They have made immense sacrifice including losing their whole families for the movement and have never had a normal life until now. They command respect and rank based on their bravery during the war and their wins against the Arabs. Now that the war is over it’s their time to relax and enjoy the fruits of independence. Since they did not get time for education most of them are semi illiterate or with low levels of education but with massive experience.
Salva Kiir and Paul Malong are in this Group and most of the generals .
The Liberators
This are the soldiers who in their childhood they managed to get education and some were sent up-to university level in Khartoum and joined the civil service or the Khartoum Sudan army.During the war some went on exile and got their PHD’s and other qualification and came back during the height of the SPLA struggle. Their families are mostly in other parts of the world and try did not suffer during the worst parts of the war. Some have worked with Khartoum and had their factions sponsored by them as they sought opportunities to advance in politics . The late Dr Garang and Riek Machar are part of this group
New Kids on the block
This are mostly the privileged class who never participated in the struggle…the have very good education and highly skilled. They have come back to Sudan to make hay due to their connections and status. Their parents could be of any of the two groups above. They got their education overseas or in kenya and Uganda. They hardly speak a word of Arab or Juba Arabic. Due to their education and connections they tend to advance very rapidly in the army , civil service and private sector. And drive flashy cars and live in palatial homes in Juba. With their level of understanding they are the deal makers who can cook and execute corrupt deals with either the two groups above who might be their parents or relatives.
Kuna wengi sitaki kuwataja hapa.
our son Dr. king paul malong arrived in Aweil. thank God and welcome back home the greatest. our next target is to call Mathiang Anyoor wherever the are’ we need our soldiers home.the Aweilian should leave salva kiir alone.we are very happy to see our son in greater Aweil again.

I have never been to Juba. I will not argue. But would the same assertion apply to the soja behind the eminent general? Si yeye black yake ni consistent?
It will be very difficult to return to peace in SS. How do you get the various warlords who are controlling the different resource laden fiefdoms to cede control to a central government that is super corrupt?
SS might eventually break up into several states style ya Czechoslovakia
Gen Paul Malong
To Public and the whole Nation of South Sudan.
I have seen a mixed reactions on the faces of many people on social media and people around but I want to assure you that My dismissal from the position of General chief of Staff doesn’t and will never zipped what I want to do to the Nation. This is a very trying moment and if we can’t open our eyes to see thousand miles away, we would probably lose our footprints in the wilderness. Therefore, let’s treat the situation the way it came.
Notice: To my supporters and Nation, let’s be calm and let peace be our song at this crucial times.
