Once in a while, you find yourself needing Posta services. Rare, but that time comes when you want to import small items or get a google business verification letter…you know how hectic it can get with Kenya Posts and Telecommunication…Oh, Postal corporation of kenya, now that Telkom tanked, because of lack of focus and appreciation for emerging technology.
Habari kwa ufupi, nliamua kuona kama hii kitu mpya ya Posta really works. You give them your phone number, and choose a postal code for where you prefer your mail to be dropped. Alafu postal address yako inakua -, kama 0720000000-02323 Siberia. Nimeenda kuangalia kama barua flani imefika, ikabaki inabidi ni-explainie the lady at the counter what mPost is and how it is supposed to work. She is advising me to apply for the physical box yenye ntapewa shafi, nirahisishe shugli (aka nisimsumbue kwa counter, niendage kama nimejiokotea barua kwa box). Enyewe watu hawapendi any modifications on their job descriptions.

I guess Posta was never meant to survive the technological onslaught. And to think that Switzerland’s posta is one of the country’s most profitable institutions. These guys have access to resources and state support where they can turn that thing into a gold mine but…there is no passion in these parastatals. Ata internet ya KPLC tumengoja tukachoka. And they have poles going to every corner of the country. Hao wanaeza ingiza faiba hadi Tondonyang, lakini macho wamekwamisha tu kwa tokens.
He’s right, those folks you find at posta are usually old, clueless or both.
By the way was there a freeze on employment at posta since most of the folk you find there are almost retiring or past retirement?
I had the same experience in January. I needed a private box and Mpost was the most convenient. However, when I went to ask about it, i was tossed from one staff to another until I gave up. Posta should just be privatized.
Isn’t it sad when all it takes is one Saturday morning for the manager to explain the new product before launch and then pay a k each for fare and lunch
