Poor People Are Generally Stupid - Unpopular Opinion

Ndio nimetoka reserve. Ni msimu wa kuvuna mahindi and it has been a good year for farmers. I have met some very hardworking people. Shida hukuwa moja. They are hardworking but they aren’t smart.

Unapata mkulima mdogo amevuna 150 bags of maize anauzia broker Ksh 2,700 per bag. The same broker atatulia hadi February aziuze over Ksh 4,000 per bag. Kazi yake ni kununua, kuzistore, na kuziuza…kazi ya siku tatu ama ikienda sana wiki moja in total. If the same farmer angetulia na bado auzie broker in February or March angeuza Ksh 3,800 minimum na akiwa mjanja ajitafutie soko town atakula even more money. I understand watu hukuwa na shida ya pesa, but why the fuck would you sell your entire yield at the worst possible time (saa hii wakati kila mtu amevuna)? Kama uko na shida ya pesa uza 10 bags pekee to solve the urgent problems and then store the rest. Unfortunately, most farmers are dumb and greedy wakionyeshwa pesa na broker wanauza produce yao yote.

If you work hard lakini ukose kutumia akili hutawahi omoka. That’s the sad reality of many people, hata town, sio mashambani pekee. I am already thinking of how to take advantage of farmers next season juu nimeona its like taking candy from a baby. The farmer does all the hard work, broker anakuja at the most opportune time danging money anabeba mahindi ya the entire village.

Clarification: in 2025 poor people are not dressed in rags and dirty, they are well dressed, have gone through school and can be admired untill you look at how they think, execute and sort issues.

Sinaskianga loans za saccos na other micro finance outlets ndio hu finance these guys. So unaweza pata jamaa anahave ku liquidate stock ku offset loan ya kitambo ambayo inamsumbua. Naskia the same thing happens with milk coffee tea etc.
Halafu pia storage costs na handling? Maybe jamaa hataki hiyo headache.
Finance encourages money now over later money. A bird in the hand manenos.
Wacha majama wafanye kazi zao vile wanajua.

I saw how brokers take advantage of stupid farmers firsthand. Jamaa anakuja na Landcruiser yake and three lories anabeba mahindi ya an entire village banae. If he buys 3000 bags auze na 4k February ama March atakuwa mafutani. Hata ukitoa cost ya logistics na storage bado atakuwa mafutani. Ujue land is extremely cheap huko mashambani and he isn’t going to store the maize in town. Hata akiwa na half an acre ya 500k ajenge store moja kubwa its game over. That small investment will serve him for decades.

Post title ingekuwa parasitic brokers. Though pia kuna saa wakulima hublunder.
Kule niko watu wamekuwa encouraged kulima cotton by the current county admin…admin distributed free seedlings extension services ni irregular and very lacking but the guys do show up when harvesting iko karibu.
Wakisha harvest wanauza a kg at 15 to 17 bob within the last 30 days i read an article in an agricultural pull out ya gazeti ikisema sahi ndio raw cotton imeshuka to 40 bob a kg…i took that article to local farmers majamaa almost pulled out their hairs. Wamekuwa wakigongwa sawa sawa for the last 3 years.

Reserve tends to have cashflow issues, so even a good harvest can waste it’s profits due to bad timing. Unapata Shikwekwe and his 19 kids have school fees issues, medical bills, fighting wives and relatives.. so even if he gets 200k from selling his maize, the money vanishes due to many women and children competing for limited resources.

Huko centrall tea milk coffee farmers naskia hupewa loans based on your past cash flows.
Ati loan officers hutembelea mashamba wana asses your potential then they encourage you to open an account with them your proceeds zikue channeled hapo…3 4 5 years later they approach you for a loan based on your cash flow history. So ile time ya hardship na zile bonus pia sio mzuri you have no option but to sell and settle your dues.
Ni tricky. Vitu zingine wachia mkulima mwenyewe.

Yes. It used to be a national policy for smallholder farmers back in the early parts of Jomo’s leadership (pre-1966). After that, kagegeism took over and he became a typical tribesman. My uncles can remember the job title Field Agricultural Officer, they are the ones who used to do the farm assessments.

Wafinywe zaidi until they give up and sell their land. Small scale farming is really holding Kenya back, it makes zero sense in the modern day. Kudos to the brokers for speeding up this process of evolution

Picture this PILSNER BOY
If ur mommy is raining
And I have an option of mounting her stink hole
Or Puthy akimaliza kunyesha
I’ll choose her sweet Puthy…So I hole-heartedly agree with ur logic
Farmers wanafaa kungoja
But like me…njaa ikizidi naingia MKIYA(wauze mahindi)

Nilote naona umeishi sana at 33 years unatafuta vita udedi haraka.

how rich or wealthy are you ?, you know very well in some quarters you’re stupid too, going by your logic .

Nyambura is explaining why ghetto pple with a shared latrine, no one takes initiative to clean it despite presence of copious amounts of water and their idle nature.
Or they just cook their food just outside a dirty latrine with steaming shit.
These are the ones allowed to vote btw.
Anyway watu wa kwao apa central are ‘hardworking’ and are feeding Nakuru county. They make good money, only that they are not practising what Nyambura is suggesting.
