Breaking news: Patrick Oita Nyapara, a police officer in Kenya, killed his girlfriend by shooting her 47 times after she rejected him following her completion of university studies.
According to Patrick, he took the young woman known as Christine Maonga from a poor rural family and brought her to Nairobi as his wife, where he decided to educate her up to university level.
He paid her tuition fees and other necessities, and also sent money to Christine’s biological mother as support because the family was unable to meet the cost of living.
After completing her studies, Christine told Patrick that she was tired of being with him because he was a person with no status and was not suitable to be her partner, and that it was better for each of them to go their separate ways.
“I have found another partner who suits me very well; he is also a director of a very large company in Nairobi. Therefore, I cannot be with you, Patrick — a man with no future and of grade D, which is too low for me,” Christine said.
Patrick did not understand his girlfriend’s statement and decided to go to Christine’s mother in the village to ask for help in resolving the matter so that he could marry their daughter, since he had spent a very large amount of money educating her.
Christine’s mother replied that she could not choose a husband for her daughter and that she should be left to decide for herself. Patrick did not accept this. He then went to Christine’s sister and explained the situation, but he was told that he did not have the status to be with a woman who had graduated from university and that he should look for a woman of his own level, like a village militia (mgambo).
Patrick left and returned home, where he made a difficult decision to invite Christine to his house with the intention of talking and resolving their differences so that they could separate completely. Christine went to Patrick’s house earlier than expected and found Patrick having weapons around him. They didn’t agree on anything and out of being furious, Christine was shot 47 times and succumbed out of it.
NB; I’m sorry for Patrick and I feel Christine’s parent has had a hand to her demise. Good advice would have saved that life.
