Another fuel tanker has, on Monday evening, overturned at Kasagam flyover along the Kisumu-Nyamasaria road.
No casualty has been reported from the tragedy.
According to preliminary information accessed by K24 Digital, police responded swiftly by arriving at the scene of the accident on time.
Reports indicate that local residents were already armed with jerrycans to siphon off fuel from the tanker only to be met by police officers who were ready to block them.
The tragedy comes barely two days after 15 people perished in a fire tragedy that occurred at Malanga trading centre on the Kisumu-Busia highway on Saturday night.
It began when a section of locals rushed to a scene of the accident where a fuel tanker had overturned and started siphoning off fuel.
While some managed to scoop some fuel, others were unlucky as the tanker burst into flames leaving some dead and several others severely injured.
13 people died on the spot while two others succumbed to burn injuries while undergoing medication.
I don’t want to be tribal but I think kuna vijikabila petty. In 2019 a fuel tanker overturned huko kirinyaga, ufuta ukamwagika and nobody dared to touch yet there were no police. Unfortunately the news cannot cover such a disciplined situation, they wait where things go bad and there they have breaking news
why is it punishable by lynching to snatch a phone, but very acceptable to rob a baker of his bread or the oil man of his fuel when he has the misfortune of an accident?
Many here will agree with me. Why stop baboons from burning? These are the same monkeys when you give public office they syphon the cash to their personal bank accounts so as @Karoga has said let Darwin theory take it’s cause
To snatch a phone is first degree theft. A willful and intentional transgression.
To siphon fuel from an overturned tanker is a less severe offence, since the truck most likely overturned due to the driver’s mistakes. Assume you inadvertently drop your phone and someone else ‘collects’ it. Much as it may not be ethical, is that really stealing?
Its theft. who said its driver’s mistakes. and even if its the driver’s mistake, did he then forfeit the lorry and the owner’s property?
if there are degrees to theft, then its a first degree theft. its same as someone stealing your car off parking lot because you happened to leave it there or breaking side mirrors off a car because its just happens to be breakable. and are you suggesting that stealing of scenes of accident is not willful and intentional and that the thieves are somehow insane?
these are the same people who arrive at scene of accident and cart away laptops, cameras, phones and money from the open or shattered windows.
Tell me the tribe I mentioned. There are 42 tribes in kenya and we can’t pretend they aren’t there, unfortunately you only become tribal when someone thinks you are talking about luos
