This era had the best games. As a young man, it was great going to Diamond Plaza or Village Market to rent games just based on which one had the coolest looking cover.
The PS2, PS3, and Xbox 360 eras had some really creative games. Developers weren’t scared to take risks.
Sony games especially have really fallen off. No weird or creative game mechanics; every title needs to have mass appeal and be as safe as possible. For example, Stellar Blade, the new IP from Sony has to be the most bland, tedious checklist, fetch quests game I’ve ever played. Currently playing it and it should never be mentioned in the same sentence as Nier Automata.
I blame it on game companies habit of laying off developers en masse after every release or after poor performance of certain titles. Who wants to be in a creative field where the job security is the same as that of a strip club?
Oh well, it was nice when it lasted.. at least we can now collect old game covers and appreciate all the different art styles and colour mixing techniques.
God of War ilikuanga moto sana ikiwa PS2 ikiwa na akina Resident Evil.
