Place Names and their Origins... Ndarugo (River Ndarugo)

I was driving through Ireland sometime maajuzi and Not too far from Dublin, the Capital City i saw a sign with “River Dargle”
Made me think because one of my parents is from Thika and i remember going to Ocha not too far from Gatundu and we would go swimming in the “Red soiled” washed River Ndarugo.
So nika-google and apparently Dargle is Irish for red water!..

I know it sounds abit far-fetched but having studied the influence of Catholic Irish missionaries in that part of Central province… i know i am on to something…

This is the river itself…couldn`t stop to take a Mbisha juu its on a busy motorway (M50 ) but this is the Original River Ndarugo (Dargle)…

DAF Launches National Truck Driver Competition

Truck-maker DAF has announced the start of its latest competition, the Transport Efficiency Driver Challenge, which will seek to find the person in the UK who is most capable behind the wheel of a commercial vehicle.

Ahead of the launch of this competition, a list of 20 drivers has already been formulated, and each of these individuals will be in with a chance of walking away with the top prize. Although they will of course need to compete against one another across a series of challenges which will determine just how skilled they are when it comes to driving trucks.

The competition will culminate in May this year, when all the participants will be whisked away to a Bedfordshire location where they will take part in both practical challenges as well as written tests over the course of two days.

After this stage of the process has been completed, the top three drivers will be selected and will then take on the final leg of the driver challenge: getting all the way to Eindhoven in the Netherlands, where DAF is currently headquartered, in a trans-continental road trip that will put their already impressive capabilities to the test once again.

Mmmmhhhh…
Only problem is i have pledged my Loyalty to Mercedes in more ways than one But i will google that and watch it as a matter of Sport.

Reminds me of the Kangubiri story. Legend has it, the white settlers used to release kikuyu slaves at a certain junction/town. “You can go free” those were the last word the white settlers would tell the slaves. Since the whites speak through their ‘nose’ the black settlers would hear ‘CanGoFree’ and thats how the town was named. @Ka-Buda in Thika there is a high possibility ulimi ya wakikuyu iliteleza.
