night photography…prob the most difficult.
working with a digital camera. nothing fancy:
SONY DSC-W190, i set out to take some test shots and see what i can do. to be hones, the results were pathetic.
wajuaji leteni maoni, here is a photo…

ISO 800

Focal lenth 6mm

hapo kwa shutter speed nakubaliana nawe…

unfortunately, i donth think i can manually adjust the shutter speed on this camera.
Try this: decrease ISO to something like 200 to eliminate noise. Most cameras have little noise at that ISO. Set exposure compensation to 0, it wont help you much here. Decrease shutter speed to way low like >= 10 seconds --you’ll have those lovely light trails. For me I would set aperture to >= F8 to get most things in focus. cc @Riva
after thinking the photo was too dark/under exposed, since my histogram was entitirely to the left,i attempted to increase the ISO to 1600 with a lit bit of compesation…

ISO 1600
exposure compesation + 2 step
the noise was just too much. i then realised i also need to increase the shutters speed,as the images were too blurry
Are doing long exposure photos ama just a regular photo in the night? Kama ni just to take a photo it’s not too bad considering the camera you are using.
my interests are street photography & nature, only that i decided to first test this camera on poor light conditions na place kuna moving images first. the camera only allows me to adjust the iso and iso compesation. it then automatically adjusts the rest with poor results. so i will need a camera i can manually adjust the apurter and shutter speed as well.
I went back now a bit earlier before dusk. Better light conditions…the image was less blurry.
And even tried to give the photo an oldschool feeling. Still on ISO 400

Thosd street lights tend to look amazing around this time all the way to the hirizon. So the timing had to be right
One hell of a simple tutorial. All in one photo. @It’s Le Scumbag now you see the combination of setting you need depending on what you are trying to achive in a photo
